We have opened a key part of the Great Urban Ring Road in Brno

06. 11. 2024

Four days before the contracted deadline for the work commissioning, we completed the awaited reconstruction of Bauerova St. in Brno. Motorists can look forward to smooth traffic in all four lanes. After more than a year and a half of restrictions, this part of the Great Urban Ring Road offers not only a more comfortable ride, but also improved safety thanks to wider lanes and safety barriers separating traffic moving the opposite direction. The modernisation of the key traffic artery, through which 20,000 vehicles pass daily, will contribute significantly to a more comfortable passage through Brno.

Modern footbridges replacing pedestrian crossings

As part of the reconstruction, substandard pedestrian crossings were removed and replaced by two modern footbridges - by the Riviéra swimming pool and the Velodrome. These off-street elements increase pedestrian safety and at the same time contribute to the flow of traffic on the road.

The reconstruction brings not only more comfortable traffic but also increased safety for all road users. According to David Fiala, the director of the Brno Branch, Directorate for Roads and Motorways, it facilitates access to the exhibition centre and the future multifunctional arena, which means better accessibility for visitors to these important places. More than one kilometre of pedestrian paths were built as part of the reconstruction.

The reconstruction of Bauerova St. at a cost of almost 550 million is not only an investment in transport infrastructure, but above all a step towards a safer, more efficient and modern urban environment.
